Niño Muhlach sold one of his five Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) trophies to Boss Toyo.
On his Pinoy Pawnstar vlog dated May 14, the rapper and content creator revealed that he reached out to Muhlach to ask if he could buy the trophy to display in a museum he plans to put up.
“I tried to contact Sir Niño. Sabi ko, ‘Sir baka, can I take some of your artifacts, and baka mabili ko yung isa niyang FAMAS, could you bring one?’ Hindi talaga siya pumunta dito para ibenta ito at ako yung nag-request,” he said.
The former child star, along with his son, personally visited Boss Toyo’s shop to give one of his FAMAS trophies, emphasizing he wanted to have it restored since he couldn’t take care of it anymore.
“Ako kasi, ang dami kong FAMAS, ang problema nga hindi ko naaalagaan sa sobrang dami,” he noted. “So kung ilalagay mo sa museum mo at ipapa-restore mo, promise mong papa-restore mo, I can give you one.”
Boss Toyo initially offered P100,000 for the trophy but later agreed to the negotiated price of P500,000. The actor also gave him some of the theater lobby cards from the films he was part of and produced.
Among the valuable items he previously bought were Jiro Manio’s Gawad Urian trophy, a shirt owned by Francis Magalona, and Dingdong Dantes’ casket in “Rewind.”
Dubbed “Child Wonder of the Philippines,” Muhlach is known for his roles in “Tahan na Empoy,” “Kutong Lupa,” “My Father, My Mother,” and “On the Job.” He also starred in “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo.”
