If you’ve been wanting to buy an Away bag without paying the usual price, this may be your lucky day. You know we love it when credit cards can offer noteworthy savings on items you already want or need, and for some travelers, this is one of those moments.
Right now, two popular credit cards have targeted offers that can save you $100 or $200 on Away luggage purchases in the form of a statement credit if you hit the spending requirements to trigger the credit.
Some Chase Sapphire Reserve® (see rates and fees) cardholders are seeing a great Chase Offer that awards a $200 statement credit after you spend $500 on Away purchases made directly with Away.
Some Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card (see rates and fees) cardholders are seeing a smaller but still solid offer for a $100 statement credit after spending $400 on Away purchases. Both are valid until May 20.
To use these offers, you need to activate them within the Chase Offers section of your card account and then use that card to make the purchase.
My family continues to swear by our Away Bigger Carry-On bags, which have now flown hundreds of thousands of miles with us and remain exceptional. They hold so much and still generally fit in the overhead bins, at least for the U.S. airlines.

However, the regular Away Carry-On is also a great choice if you don’t need or want that additional space (or if you fly frequently on international airlines that can be a bit more strict about carry-on sizing).
In a stroke of good timing, Away currently has a deal that gives you $50 off two bags, so buying two Away Carry-On bags should add up exactly to $500 (before taxes). If you have the Chase Offer for a $200 statement credit after spending $500, that works out to an out-of-pocket cost of $150 per bag, a very solid deal for a bag that has gone the distance with me and held up well.

Of course, if you don’t need two bags in your own household, you might want to find a friend or family member who also wants a bag and split the cost to trigger both that discount and the statement credit.
Regardless of who the bags are for, remember to start your purchase via a site like Rakuten to earn some bonus points or cash back on the purchase.
