I’m a San Diego travel advisor, and I spend my days talking to travelers, so I hear where people actually stay in Point Loma and how it went, whether I booked the room or not. To build this list I sorted the area’s hotels by location and price and read through recent guest reviews, and the weak ones did not make it. Most run an airport shuttle, and several are within walking distance of Liberty Station’s restaurants and the Public Market.

How to choose where to stay in Point Loma

• Boutique style and a scene: The Pearl or The Monsaraz, both on Rosecrans.
• Family trip or a longer stay: the Liberty Station hotels (Courtyard, Homewood, Hampton, TownePlace), most with suites or full kitchens and a free airport shuttle.
• Cheapest room with a bit of water view: Best Western Yacht Harbor on Harbor Drive.

Each room includes an attached balcony, a mini fridge, and a microwave. This waterfront budget choice has a good location across the street from the Harbor Promenade. The trade-off for that spot is noise, from Harbor Drive traffic, airport jets, and the pool area in the evening, so ask for a room away from the road if you sleep lightly.
