Filipino Golfers Competing at Olympics Had to Improvise Their Own Uniforms, Duct Tape Their Golf Clubs

Our representatives at the golfing tournament at the Paris Games 2024, Dottie Ardina and Bianca Pagdanganan, are crying foul over the seeming lack of support for them after they had to improvise their own uniforms and equipment.

In a video posted by Ardina which was then shared by Filipino netizens on X (formerly Twitter), the athlete was seen taping an embroidered patch of the Philippine flag on her shirt, claiming that she and Pagdanganan were the only ones in the competition without an official uniform.

“Sana all my uniform, kami lang wala,” she said in the video. “Kailangan pang bumili ng t-shirt. Diyos ko, ano bang klaseng Olympics to?”

“Shout out naman diyan sa mga walang nagbigay, asan na ba ‘yung uniform namin? Saan na napunta? Dadalawa nga lang kami dito, 22 na lang na atleta, kulang kulang pa.”

She then expressed embarrassment over having to tape the Philippine flag on herself and ensure that it stays on. “Diba? Nakakahiya! Sobrang daming tao, kami lang yung walang uniform.”

She filmed this on the third day of their competition. A photo on Philstar even showed that the two golfers had to duct tape their gold clubs to conceal the sponsors as it’s prohibited to display sponsorships during the Olympics.

The fourth round of the women’s individual stroke play takes place at 3 PM today.
