This Amazing New Campground Is Almost Ready to Open in Ottawa County
As a mom and San Diego-based travel agent specializing in family vacations, I spend a lot of time helping families figure out the best way to experience our theme parks. LEGOLAND California Resort is always at the top of the list. I’m constantly asked whether Annual Passes are worth it and which one to choose, so it’s time to break it all down.
It’s easy to get overwhelmed by the options: Silver, Gold, Platinum, Elite… what’s the difference? You’ve come to the right place. My goal is to help you understand the true value of each pass, so you can make the most informed choice for your family’s visit style and budget, whether you’re a local or tourist.
Before reviewing the Annual Passes, it’s helpful to understand the three parks that make up LEGOLAND California Resort, as each pass includes different access privileges.
LEGOLAND offers four Annual Pass tiers, each adding more perks and fewer restrictions as you move up:
To make things easier, here’s a breakdown of the key differences based on the official site:

*Prices are based on individual pass purchases as listed in May 2025. LEGOLAND frequently runs promotions like “Buy 3, Get 1 Free” on Gold, Platinum, and Elite, which could lower the per-pass cost significantly if buying for a group of 4+. Silver is typically excluded from these multi-buy offers. Check the site for current deals!
Let’s elaborate on the above chart and break down who benefits most from each tier, drawing on my experience helping families plan.
Throughout the month of October, kids are free at attractions across San Diego with a paid adult. This annual promotion includes LEGOLAND California. So, if you’re considering multiple visits in October and what pass to buy, keep this in mind.
Daily tickets start at around $89 online (with dynamic pricing, higher on peak dates), and general parking costs $35.
Even the Silver pass ($179) can seem more affordable than purchasing two daily tickets and parking separately. Factor in $35 parking per visit, and you generally need three or more visits for Silver to pencil out versus discounted daily tickets.
The approximately $50 jump from Gold ($239) to Platinum ($289) is offset by the included parking ($35 per visit) in just two visits if you drive. This is key.
For Tourists: Visiting San Diego for just 1-3 days? An Annual Pass usually isn’t your best bet. Daily tickets will likely be cheaper. In these cases, I strongly recommend discounted single or multi-day ticket options instead. I’ve outlined the best strategies in my Discount LEGOLAND Tickets Guide, and you can also check prices directly for 1-Day or multi-day hopper tickets through my Authorized Ticket Partner Portal (use promo code SAVEMORE).
A Gold or Platinum pass might become cost-effective for longer trips (5+ days) with multiple LEGOLAND visits planned, especially when factoring in parking and discounts. In my experience, tourists very rarely purchase annual passes.
For Locals (San Diego, Orange County & Beyond): It’s all about frequency. Yes, my friends in Orange County, you’re close enough for a pass to be a great value if you’re willing to make the drive several times! Consider how often you will realistically visit and whether you need parking. Platinum often wins for frequent drivers.
We have BIG discounts on one-day admission to LEGOLAND California and various park hopper tickets! Price: from $77/ages 2+ (Use promo code SAVEMORE for an extra $5 off)
Choosing the right LEGOLAND California Annual Pass depends on your visit frequency, desired parks, parking needs, budget, and tolerance for blockout dates.
Recap: Silver (budget/off-peak), Gold (adds parks/some blockouts), Platinum (parking included/few blockouts – great value), Elite (max perks/no blockouts).
Ultimately, the goal is to find the best value for your specific trip. Now, go have an AWESOME time at LEGOLAND!
