Nesthy Petecio snagged another bronze medal for the Philippines after her match with Poland’s Julia Szeremeta in the women’s 75 kg boxing category at the 2024 Paris Olympics on August 8.
The Filipina boxer started strong in the opening round but ultimately lost to Julia by a split decision of 4-1. Julia will then face Taiwan’s Lin Yu Ting, who Nesthy defeated in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
Nesthy’s win brings the total number of the country’s medals from the Paris Olympics to four! She is now a two-time Olympic medalist, following her victory at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, where she clinched a silver medal, making history as the first Filipino female boxer to win an Olympic medal.
A jab well done, Nesthy! We’re so proud of you!
