Discover the ultimate Caribbean paradise at the Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve Puerto Rico. From spacious suites and immersive dining to rainforest hikes and beachside relaxation, this tropical getaway has it all!
Unless you’re new here, you know I love to travel to tropical destinations, like Cancun and the Bahamas. But if you’re craving a Caribbean getaway without the hassle of international travel, Puerto Rico checks all the boxes. No passport and no customs lines, just sun, sand, and a laid-back vibe that kicks in the moment you land. We spent a few dreamy days at the Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve Puerto Rico in Río Grande, and I’m already planning my return!
Tucked between lush tropical landscapes and a quiet stretch of beach, the Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve is equal parts luxury and comfort. The rooms were spacious, thoughtfully designed, and perfect for families or groups. Ours even had a small kitchenette with a sink and mini fridge; super convenient for snacks or storing leftovers from the resort’s many dining options!
The resort itself is expansive but walkable, with multiple pools, plenty of cabanas and loungers, and beautiful walking paths that wind along the ocean. Whether we were sipping morning coffee on the balcony, strolling along the beach, or unwinding at the serene Rainforest Spa, every corner of the resort felt like a slice of paradise.
You know my favorite part about any trip is the food! From start to finish, the food at the Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve was phenomenal. We kicked things off with dinner at Prime 787, the resort’s steakhouse, where we shared flavorful small plates and perfectly cooked steaks, all paired with tropical cocktails and a lively atmosphere that set the tone for the trip.
The next morning, we were treated to a truly local experience: Pan Sobao In-Room Breakfast. Delivered straight to our door, this soft, slightly sweet bread (served warm with butter) was the coziest start to the day and a nod to Puerto Rican street food culture. Later in the trip, we also had the option to enjoy breakfast at Water’s Edge, where the buffet included everything from classic American options to local dishes and a gluten-free pastry section that was such a thoughtful touch.
Lunch was equally memorable. One day we dined at Nori Asian Grill, where the highlight was a hands-on sushi-making class with Chef Iván. Rolling our own sushi while sipping sake was as fun as it was delicious, and finishing the class by eating our creations made the experience even better!
One evening, the resort arranged a Twinkle Light Sunset Picnic Dinner right on the beach. With twinkling string lights, ocean views, and a fire pit for roasting s’mores, it was an absolute highlight of the trip!
We wrapped up the trip with a farewell dinner at Nori Teppanyaki, where the chefs entertained us hibachi-style while we reminisced about the trip. Between the flavorful food, great company, and island-inspired drinks, it was the perfect sendoff.
Whether you’re the adventurous type or more into full-on relaxation mode, there’s something for everyone here.
Just 15 minutes from the resort is El Yunque National Forest, the only tropical rainforest in the U.S. National Forest System. We spent a day hiking, waterfall-hopping, and soaking up the natural beauty. Not going to lie, this was hands-down my favorite part of the trip.
Back on the resort, we filled our spare time with lounging by the pool, beach walks, and spa treatments.
We also ventured off-property to explore the local beach scene and grabbed authentic eats at the kioskos, a row of local food stalls offering traditional Puerto Rican fare. If you want to experience the island’s culture through its food, this is the place!
From relaxing poolside to exploring the rainforest, and every meal in between, our stay at the Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve Puerto Rico was everything we hoped for, and more! It’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’ve truly gotten away, even though it’s just a short flight from the mainland. Plan your stay today, and let me know your favorite part!
Disclosure: Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve Puerto Rico hosted my accommodations and meals during my stay, but all opinions are my own.
