For some reason we had actually never visited the city of Utrecht properly. So, when we discovered the brand-new Crowne Plaza Utrecht, we knew, this is meant to be!
Location is always key when searching for accommodations for city trips, and so it was during our recent trip to Utrecht. Well, let the Crowne Plaza happens to have just the perfect location for a city trip to Utrecht.

About Crowne Plaza Utrecht Central Station
A brand new hotel in the heart of the city, that’s what the Crowne Plaza Utrecht is. Originally they would have opened their doors in the summer of 2020, but because we were in the middle of a pandemic at the time, and everything was closed, the opening was postponed until eventually January 2022.
It’s the third Crowne Plaza Hotel in the Netherlands besides the ones in Amsterdam and Maastricht.
Location
The location of this new Crowne Plaza Hotel is absolutely a 10 out of 10! It’s located right next to Utrecht Central Station, which is one of the biggest and most important railway stations in the Netherlands. And with the central location of Utrecht, it connects you to any part of the Netherlands. So, travelling by train is absolutely recommended here.
And not to forget Utrecht is among the most beautiful places to see in The Netherlands.
The entrance to the hotel is located right in the middle of Hoog Catharijne The Mall. The hotel is located inside and above the Mall. Stepping out of the mall, you step right into the city centre of Utrecht. Everything is at walking distance, shops, restaurants, cinema, theatre, everything! Utrecht is literally at your feet. Shop till you drop and then crawl back to bed! Looking for a shopping weekend? You just found your perfect trip!
Room 801
We were given room 801, a very large and spacious room, with a comfy bed and the biggest television I have ever seen in a hotel room. The room also has a separate seating area. It’s located in the corner of the building, and offers sweet views of Utrecht. Two bottles of water are waiting for you in the room, complimentary. The room also has a large bathroom with separate shower and bathtub, perfect.
The Crowne Plaza offers luxury Rituals amenities in the bathroom, that just scores bonus points with me!
Plant a Tree
Sustainability is an important topic for Crowne Plaza Utrecht. To prove that they recently announced a partnership with Hotels for Trees. When staying in Crowne Plaza Utrecht, you have the choice to skip daily room cleaning, and in return they will plant one tree in your name. Thumbs up for initiatives like these!
Crowne Plaza Utrecht review
Even though the hotel might feel like a business hotel, it has quite a few extra facilities to offer. Their breakfast is the best way to start your day. Located on the first floor of the hotel, offering nice views of Utrecht. You can even order freshly made eggs any style or pancakes from the kitchen.
They also have a restaurant and bar to have your late-night drinks or fancy dinners. Trying to stay fit while travelling? No worries, they have a gym with plenty of equipment.
We would like to praise the staff for their professionalism and attentiveness. Every single employee we have been in touch with during our stay was super helpful and friendly.
We were actually celebrating our 9th wedding anniversary when visiting the Crowne Plaza. They decorated our room and left us a lovely note and gift. Very thoughtful!
