I’ll be honest, until a few weeks ago we had never heard of Ter Marsch & Co. But when we heard that they have award winning burgers and fries, we were immediately excited. And they haven’t just won one award, they win year after year!
Since we were recently in Amsterdam anyway, we decided to visit Ter Marsch & Co in Amsterdam, at the flower market.

About Ter Marsch & Co
You undoubtedly know Ter Marsch & Co from their award-winning burgers and fries, but did you know that they already existed in 1890? Ter Marsch & Co has a history of over 125 years, and the vision with which they started is still noticeable today. The name Ter Marsch & Co dates back to 1890; at that time it was the “Factory of Preserved Meat Products” which was located in 1890 at Witte de Withstraat 70 in Rotterdam. That’s right, the building where the company is still located today!
Ter Marsch & Co’s burgers have been in the spotlight since they opened back in 2014. After winning many different national and international awards over the years, Ter Marsch & Co has become an iconic boutique burger restaurant.
Today they have three locations, one in Rotterdam and two in Amsterdam.
It all started in Rotterdam
Ter Marsch & Co opened its very first burger boutique restaurant in 2014 on Rotterdam’s Witte de Withstraat. This is where the great Ter Marsch & Co adventure began. It’s located in the center of Rotterdam.
Amsterdam Kalverstraat
There are two locations of Ter Marsch & Co in Amsterdam. The first is located in perhaps the most famous street in Amsterdam, the Kalverstraat. This is located in the most beautiful building on the Kalverstraat next to the Amsterdam Museum, situated between Dam Square and the Munttoren.
From Amsterdam Central Station you can walk to this branch on Kalverstraat within 10 minutes. This location does not accept reservations. You can pick up or take a seat at a table on one of the two floors.
Amsterdam Bloemenmarkt
The second location in Amsterdam is located at the famous flower market. You will find Ter Marsch & Co in the NH Collection Amsterdam Flower Market hotel. No reservations here either, you just join in! When it’s busy there is enough space to start at the bar with a drink or a small snack. For groups of 8 people or more they do take reservations.
Did you know that the Amsterdam city center location (in the NH hotel) also has a fantastic cocktail bar? The cocktail bar, which, how could it be otherwise, is inspired by flowers and botany, is worth a visit just for the interior. Guaranteed an abundance of color, enough instagrammable corners and lots of humor!
We visited Ter Marsch & Co at the flower market. What a great restaurant this is. As soon as you step inside you are embraced by the warm and colorful interior and by the enthusiastic staff. There are so many fun and unique spots in this restaurant, you really want to take pictures of everything, it’s that nice here.
Farm to Table
At Ter Marsch & Co, meat has been central for over 125 years. They work with meat from Dutch cattle, from Limousin or Blonde d’Aquitaine cows. They also make combinations with Japanese Wagyu Beef, a beef that is known for its exclusive and tasty properties. The Dutch cattle are raised in peace and quiet and cared for according to family traditions on their own farms in Twente.
Not only does the meat for the award-winning burgers come from local farmers, the potatoes for the fries also come from Dutch farmers. Every day, the potatoes are brought directly from the farmer in large bags to the shops to be cut on the spot into fresh fries.
We really encourage companies to use local suppliers. This is key to Ter Marsch & Co. The quality of the products is really paramount. As a customer, you notice this immediately. The quality is fantastic, you can taste that you are dealing with good products here.
Best Burger Awards
This is of course also evident from the many awards they have won over the years.
Year after year their burgers and fries win awards. It is clear that they know what they are doing and execute it to perfection. So what have they won? A short overview of their most important prizes.
Winner of the best hamburger Rotterdam 2014, winner of the best hamburger Netherlands 2015, 12th place World’s Best Burger at the World Food Championships USA, Florida 2015, winner of the best burger bar Amsterdam 2016, winner of the best hamburger Netherlands 2020, winner of the tastiest fries 2020, winner of the best hamburger Benelux 2021, winner of the Dutch championship of the tastiest burger 2024, winner of the Dutch championship of Loaded Fries 2025. An impressive list!
During our visit we of course opted for a hamburger and fries for which they won an award.
We chose the LA FIESTA DE CARNE (Winner best hamburger Netherlands 2024), the THE GOJIRA (Winner best hamburger Benelux 2020 & Winner best hamburger Netherlands 2020) and the BALI SPICE FRIES (Winner best Loaded Fries Netherlands 2025). With the cocktail bar they have in the branch at the flower market, a matching cocktail is definitely recommended!
Are you in the mood for the best burgers and fries? Then definitely visit Ter Marsch & Co. You won’t regret it. Their awards speak for themselves in their burgers and fries. Definitely worth it!
The fact that we had never heard of them before our visit to Ter Marsch & Co is of course strange. Especially when you look at how many awards they have won in recent years. With all those awards we were extra enthusiastic and curious, are those burgers really that good? We can confirm, yes they really are that good! If you are in Amsterdam or have Amsterdam in your plans, definitely put Ter Marsch & Co on your list.
