Van Hunks on Kloof Street serves three tacos for R99 as part of its Mexican Monday offering. Margaritas are also available for R50. As close to Mexico as you’ll get for this price.
That means tacos and a margarita for R149. Financial responsibility has never tasted so festive.

Quay Four Tavern at the V&A Waterfront offers sirloin steak and chips for R179 on Mondays.
Fish and chips, spatchcock chicken, or six oysters with a glass of bubbly are also offered at the same price.
Waterfront views and steak for under R200? Cape Town must have briefly forgotten where it was.

Fish on the Rocks is a Hout Bay institution serving seafood beside the harbour.
Its hake and chips have been listed at approximately R105, leaving enough change from R200 for a drink or something to defend your lunch from the seagulls.

The Oranjezicht City Farm Market brings together local bakeries, restaurants and food vendors at the V&A Waterfront.
Options range from curries and pastries to breakfast dishes, grilled food and sweet treats. Most individual meals can be found for under R200, although your ability to walk past “just one more stall” will be tested.

Jason Bakery in Green Point is known for oversized pastries, pies, sourdough bread and its iced coffee slush.
A coffee-and-pastry combination can comfortably come in under R200.

Get yourself a rich & juicy Wagyu burger at Iron Steak and Bar on Bree Street only on Wednesdays. Pair that up with their half-price on selected wines, beers, bubbly, and cocktails (4 PM – 5:30 PM), and it’s a whole experience


You do not need to describe wine as “playfully wooded” to enjoy a tasting. You merely need to drink it.

Groot Constantia offers a five-wine tasting listed at R130, including a tasting glass to take home.
Five wines and a souvenir. Your kitchen cupboard will finally know you travel.

De Grendel on the Durbanville Wine Route offers views of Table Mountain alongside its wine tastings.
Its six-wine premium tasting is listed at R130, while the flagship tasting costs around R150.

Beerhouse on Long Street offers its Beer O’Clock tasting tray for approximately R180.
The clock-shaped tray includes a selection of 100ml beer tasters, allowing you to sample several styles without committing to a full glass.
After all, it is always beer o’clock somewhere in the world.

Klein Roosboom offers several tastings below R200.
The white wine tasting has been listed at R90, the red at R95 and a mixed five-wine tasting at R120.
There are tasting caves too, because ordinary chairs apparently were not dramatic enough.

Beau Constantia combines experimental wines with sweeping views over the Constantia Valley.
Its tastings generally range from approximately R110 to R150.
