Traveling to Amsterdam is always a good idea, especially when you get to experience the city in a brand new hotel. Valk Exclusief has been building on their newest, luxury hotel in Amsterdam for the past few years. In the summer of 2020 this new and modern hotel opened its doors to the public. It was pretty special to be one of the very first guests of a recently opened hotel. Everything still smells new, looks brand new, and probably also due to the Covid-19 situation, it was very quiet.
We have worked with quite a few Valk Exclusief hotels in the past few years, check out our Schiphol, Tilburg & Utrecht blog posts for example. Also if you are looking for things to do in the Netherlands then check out my list of the most amazing places to see in The Netherlands.
Location Van der Valk Amsterdam Zuidas
The name of this hotel gives away its location, as this hotel is very centrally located in the internationally known business area district of Amsterdam, the Zuidas. Located very close to the RAI Convention Centre, the World Trade Center and Schiphol Airport.
Travelling to Amsterdam by train? No problem at all, as the hotel is located right next to the Amsterdam RAI railway. From here you can travel by tram, metro and train to Amsterdam city center and many other locations in Amsterdam. There is a tram stop located right in front of the hotel too.
Highway A10 runs right next to the hotel as well, which makes it very easy to access the hotel by car. Travelling by car? You can easily park your car at their four-story car park.
Rooms Van der Valk Amsterdam Zuidas
The Amsterdam Zuidas hotel offers rooms for every budget. From comfort rooms to suites. Due to the way the hotel is built, all rooms offer amazing views. The first rooms start at level 6 of the hotel, all the way up to level 13.
Depending in which direction your room faces, your view might contain Amsterdam city views. Every single room has amazing floor to ceiling windows and breathtaking views, and because of constructing the hotel this way, they have decorated the rooms accordingly. By this I mean that the bed in every single room faces towards the window, which makes it possible for every guest to enjoy the views straight from bed. So clever!
The rooms also have wide windowsills with seating areas, all to enjoy the views. I told you the Van der Valk Hotel Amsterdam Zuidas is all about views.
The hotel’s most spacious, trendy and luxurious rooms are the (junior) suites. King-size beds, spacious (open) bathrooms, and a bathtub with wide panoramic views.
Upon check-in we were given a junior suite on the 12th floor of the hotel. Stepping into our room I was speechless yet super excited at the same time. Such a luxurious suite, 180 degrees panoramic views, overlooking the city of Amsterdam.
I could recognize the Rijksmuseum very clearly from our room. Next to the King-size bed was a bathtub, facing the large TV. What more could a person want, watch TV from the bathtub. Also don’t forget to enjoy the views when having a bath.
In my suite the curtains were on a remote control so they opened and closed automatically.
Wellness Van Der Valk Zuidas
Unlike many other (new) Valk Exclusief properties, the Amsterdam Zuidas has chosen not to construct a swimming pool on the top floor. Instead there is a luxurious and extensive wellness area. Due to the location of this hotel, it’s very likely business travelers will end up using this hotel and after a day full of meeting there is nothing better than relaxing in a sauna.
The wellness is located on the 13th floor and guess what… the views are amazing. One must enjoy this while relaxing from a lounger or even straight from the sauna window.
Can you already imagine relaxing in the sauna area and enjoying the views after a long day at the office or congress? Amazing, right? Next to the wellness you’ll find a fully equipped gym, with brand new equipment and devices.
Mini-market
At the main floor of the Amsterdam Hotel Zuidas, where you enter the hotel on ground floor, you’ll find a mini market and a brasserie. The brasserie is likely to open in October 2020. It has an open kitchen and offers a-la-carte lunch and dinner.
Also located on this level of the hotel is a mini – market. Offering everything you need, nowadays facemasks and sanitizer of course, but also your favorite late-night snack and drinks.
There aren’t really any shops right next door to the hotel, so offering this mini-market is a very clever choice. It’s a self-service market, too easy really, pick your products, scan & pay and you’re good to go!
Bike rental
Right next to the mini-market you can find the rental bikes. Hotel Amsterdam Zuidas offers both electric and regular rental bikes. Bikes are probably the most important means of transport in Amsterdam. Do like the locals do, rent a bike and start exploring and enjoying the city. Make sure to contact reception if you want to rent a bike, as they are likely to get fully booked. We rented a bike during our stay and cycled through the Amstelpark to Amsterdam Zuidoost.
Restaurant and bar Van Der Valk Zuidas
Once you step out of the elevator on the 5th floor, you’ll immediately notice the impressive and inviting bar of Van Der Valk Zuidas. They offer a wide range of hot and cold drinks, cocktails, beers and wines. Be invited and have a drink in this inspiring environment with of course great views.
The hotel also has an a-la-carte restaurant. Having dinner here, with panoramic views of the Zuidas and Amsterdam is my number one recommendation when staying at the Van Der Valk Zuidas.
Surprising and very delicious dishes are being served here. And a bonus, something I have not experienced at any other hotel, we were served an amuse-bouche, love it!
Van Der Valk Zuidas Lobby
From the main entrance of the building on the ground floor you don’t immediately step into the lobby of the hotel, as the lobby is 5 floors up from the main entrance. It’s something I really like, as it seems to make the lobby a lot less crowded.
Another thing I really like is that from the three elevators on the ground floor, none of them go straight up to the hotel rooms are. You always require a transfer at level 5, where the reception, hotel bar and restaurants are located. Safety first!
We were given a tour this brand new Van Der Valk Amsterdam Zuidas Hotel just after we checked in. Anne, who gave the tour, showed us everything and had a lot to tell about the new hotel. She showed us every single room type, even the biggest suite. Thank you Anne for the interesting tour and for showing us your beautiful hotel from top to bottom.
