YOUR KLOOF STREET NEIGHBOURHOOD GUIDE: Cafés, clubs, and everything in-between

If you didn’t already know, CURIOCITY is opening another Apart-Hotel in Cape Town!

Our new digs are in the vibrant Gardens neighbourhood, up on Kloof Street.

Kloof Street boasts a deep pool of artisanal and cultural attractions, which is exactly why we chose it for our next CURIOCITY. We’ve put together a guide to help you navigate your way with ease. We did the hard work, so you don’t have to.

This vibrant thoroughfare is riddled with diverse restaurants and chic cafés, and we’ve hand-picked a few of our favourites.

Cafés & Restaurants

CAFÉ PARADISO

First up are our neighbours, and we may or may not be biased, Café Paradiso! This amazing restaurant features rustic finishes and a warm, intimate ambiance. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy the best local and international cuisine, a glass of wine with friends, or a cozy date.

It’s also very family-friendly, so feel free to bring your little ones along and indulge in the
uniquely pleasant vibe and menu.

JUDD’S LOCAL & VADIVELU

These two are directly across the street from us, and in no specific order:

JUDD’S LOCAL

Judd’s Local is a family-run eatery and wine bar with carefully curated touches in both its atmosphere and food offerings. The Judd’s believe strongly in the power of simplicity and authenticity without compromising on quality, and this shines through in their menu, which offers local cuisine with a big emphasis on excellence.

Let’s talk about their wine… As the Judd’s would say, “wine is more than just a drink; it’s an art.” Alongside a fantastic wine list, the restaurant features a wine shop offering a curated selection of the finest local wines, allowing you to take a piece of the experience home.

Locals and international travellers alike, it’s safe to say that Judd’s Local is CURIOCITY Certified!

ASOKA

Last on this list but certainly not least, we have “The OG”!

A revamped Victorian house decorated with a lavish helping of eastern promise, Asoka is an atmospheric bar and restaurant built around a 150-year-old, fairy-lit olive tree on Kloof Street. There’s live entertainment on a regular basis at the bar, and on a Tuesday, some of Cape Town’s top jazz musicians grace the small, cozy corner to soothe crowds seated around the in-house living tree.

Asoka’s menu offers a delightful fusion of Mediterranean and Asian-inspired dishes, from tapas-style plates to flavourful mains and innovative cocktails, each item on the menu reflects their commitment to sheer quality and dining pleasure.

Asoka no doubt receives the CURIOCITY Certified stamp!

If you made it this far, we really appreciate you, and you get a CURIOCITY Certified Stamp as well. Haha!

Kloof Street has a lot more cool spots to explore and discover, but we couldn’t cover everything in this one newsletter. So be on the lookout for more, this is only just Part 1 of the series!

Tell your friends to tell their friends that we are where it’s at, and we hope to see you soon at CURIOCITY Kloof Street!
